Freelance Interpreter Required for Various Settings

We are seeking a professional interpreter to work with us in various settings such as the NHS, Local Authorities, Police, Probation, and other public and private organisations. Our company, Language Empire, provides professional interpreting and translation services to the public and private sectors across the UK.

As a freelance interpreter, you will be working with clients from diverse backgrounds, providing high-quality interpreting services with 100% accuracy. You will be responsible for listening to, understanding, and memorizing content in the source language, then reproducing the speech into the target language.

The ideal candidate will have formal qualifications such as a Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI), Community Interpreting, or a Degree in Translation/Interpreting/Languages. You will also need to be fluent in English and another language, have the right to work in the UK, and be aged 21 or over.

As a self-employed interpreter, you will have the flexibility to work from the comfort of your own home and choose your own schedule. You will also have access to ongoing help and support from our dedicated in-house team, as well as continuous professional development and support.

Once your registration has been approved, you will be contacted for any job opportunities in and around your locality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting for people using legal, health, and local government services
  • Checking the non-English speakers understanding after each sentence
  • Conference, consecutive, and public service interpreting
  • Dealing with highly confidential information
  • Liaising between the service user and service provider
