Job Description

We are seeking an ambitious and experienced Senior/Principal Environmental Scientist to join our established and successful Water Team in our Stoke office. The successful candidate will specialise in Water Quality and play a key role in growing our water quality workstream.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality water quality projects and provide technical expertise to support multidisciplinary projects.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies, including the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, and Scottish Environmental Protection Agency.
  • Conduct water quality modelling to support permitting and provide training to colleagues.
  • Undertake hydrogeochemical modelling using Phreeqc to understand attenuation caused by pollutant interactions with mineral surfaces in aquifers.
  • Support the development of proposals and tenders, including written and financial input.
  • Mentor and train early career Environmental Scientists.
  • Represent the firm at internal and external meetings, engaging with clients and stakeholders.
  • Collect groundwater and surface water samples in accordance with best practice sampling methods and quality control data.

Requirements:

  • Experience in consultancy in the UK, including project management and technical delivery of water quality projects.
  • Familiarity with UK regulations and legislation, as well as relevant water quality standards.
  • Experience in providing written and financial input to proposals and tenders.
  • Experience in mentoring and training early career Environmental Scientists.
  • Chartered or working towards chartership with a relevant professional institution, such as CIWEM.
  • CSCS card for safe working on construction sites.
  • A full UK driving licence.
