Woodland and Parkland Maintenance Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled Woodland and Parkland Maintenance Coordinator to join our team at Clifford Estate Company Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the woodland and parkland maintenance, ensuring that all work is delivered in line with legislative requirements and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the forestry team in the Head of Forestry's absence, ensuring that resources are allocated to deliver planned work objectives.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out to protect staff and members of the public, adhering to relevant legislation and industry standards.
  • Assist with timber production, liaising with timber merchants and customers over log and Christmas tree sales.
  • Oversee planting and maintenance of amenity, parkland, and woodland trees, including thinning and felling for woodland management and tree risk management.
  • Create and manage habitats within the woodland and parkland, controlling squirrels and producing firewood.
  • Sell Christmas trees, fence, trim hedges, plough, cultivate, and sow wild bird seed mixes, as well as assist the property maintenance and garden teams.
  • Implement health and safety considerations, managing risk assessments, method statements, and safe operating procedures.
  • Complete administrative tasks, including logbooks, chemical storage records, maintenance records, and risk and method statements.
  • Monitor and report on maintenance contracts, engaging with contractors to resolve issues and sourcing external contractors as agreed with the Estate Manager.
  • Develop and manage the team in the Head of Forestry's absence, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management.
  • Liaise with the Estate Manager and Estate Forestry Advisor to ensure communication of planned work affecting other departments and schedules.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in a related position, such as forestry, environmental conservation, horticulture, arboriculture, land, or estate management.
  • First Aid +F certification.
  • Brush cutting and strimming skills.
  • Knapsack spraying proficiency.
  • Small tree felling expertise (essential requirement).
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including H&S.
  • Basic tree inspection skills.
  • Tractor driving abilities.
  • Tractor-mounted spraying experience.
  • IT, Word, Excel, Outlook proficiency.
  • Driving license.

Salary: £38,000 - £43,000 per year, depending on experience.
