About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our team at ISP Whitstable. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of our students, who require additional support to access mainstream education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students, promoting their academic and personal growth.
  • Assist the Classroom Teacher in delivering lessons, preparing materials, and maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness, and collaborating with colleagues to develop targeted interventions.
  • Supervise students during non-classroom activities, including extracurricular events and school trips, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Contribute to lesson planning, setting work, and marking, as required.
  • Build positive relationships with students, fostering a sense of belonging and encouraging active participation in learning.
Requirements
  • A strong educational background, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably as a Teaching Assistant.
  • Some experience of working with students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within an educational setting.
  • Ability to lead on a specialism, such as Reading, Mathematics, or Forest School.
  • Experience of behavior management and techniques.
  • Commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
  • Willingness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work.
