Senior Student Retention Officer

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Senior Student Retention Officer will play a critical role in ensuring the retention and progress of students at GBS Global Applied Knowledge. This involves working closely with the Head of Student Retention, Retention Managers, and Student Success Tutors to re-engage students in their studies.

This role requires a high level of communication skills, adaptability, and the ability to plan and prioritize effectively. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and best practice, as well as experience working with mature students in higher education.

Main Responsibilities
  • Work closely with learners to identify and address barriers to retention and progress.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to retention, achievement, and progression.
  • Provide support and guidance to Student Success Tutors and academic staff to ensure students receive the necessary support.
  • Improve campus attendance and engagement through targeted interventions and initiatives.
  • Coordinate and monitor the work of Student Success Tutors, ensuring they meet their targets and KPIs.
Requirements
  • Education to degree level or equivalent, with a strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and best practice.
  • Previous experience working with students in higher education, specifically with mature students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt messages for a diverse audience.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize effectively, with a high level of computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
