Religious Visitor Role Overview

We are seeking a Religious Visitor to join our Chaplaincy Team at Gatwick Immigration Removal Centre. The successful candidate will work across both sites on a part-time basis, providing weekend cover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide pastoral care and support to residents and staff
  • Facilitate faith-specific services and activities
  • Work closely with Security and Safer Custody to ensure issues such as Suicide and Self-Harm and Violence Reduction are delivered in line with the DSO's
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings, including Safer Custody, Security, and Wing forums
  • Maintain chaplaincy facilities and equipment to the required standard

Requirements

  • Experience in delivering religious services in a custodial environment
  • Proven high-level of professionalism and competence in religious service delivery
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Working knowledge of other faiths represented within the centre
  • Meet the specified minimum faith eligibility requirement of their faith tradition
