Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified clinical/counselling psychologist to work within the specialist adult inpatient Palliative Care Service at St George's Hospital. The post offers excellent experience and the chance to be part of a well-established comprehensive Specialist Palliative Care within a large teaching hospital.

Main Duties of the Job

The successful candidate will provide specialist clinical/counselling psychology service for patients with life-limiting illnesses and their relatives, as part of the hospital's palliative care service. They will work closely with the multi-disciplinary palliative care team and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care. The post holder will also be responsible for the clinical supervision of other team members and will be expected to work creatively and as part of a team.

About the Role

The post holder will be a member of the extensive neuropsychology and clinical health psychology department within St George's Hospital. The department provides support and mentoring for its members and is committed to clinical supervision, continuing professional development, teaching, training, and career progression. The department has excellent links with St George's Hospital Medical School and the University of Surrey and actively supports research.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have a doctoral level qualification in clinical/counselling psychology and registration with the HCPC as a clinical psychologist or counselling psychologist. They will also have experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings. A minimum of 18 months post-qualification experience of working in a clinical setting, with at least 12 months of which spent in a clinical health psychology speciality, is also required. Experience of working in the NHS is essential.
