Culinary Specialist

This is a permanent and full-time opportunity to join our team at Uppingham School, Rutland. As a Sous Chef, you will be responsible for all food production across breakfast, lunch, and dinner service from one main kitchen. You will also support with any planned ad hoc hospitality requirements throughout the year.
The role will be based in the HUB Kitchen's, where you will work closely with the Head Chef and Group Executive Chef to ensure the highest standards of food quality and safety. You will be responsible for managing production to ensure minimal wastage, maintaining food levels throughout all service periods, and ensuring the maintenance of high hygiene and health and safety standards.

A day in the life of a Sous Chef:
- Effective food production in line with recipe sheets
- Cooking & prepping food for students each day. Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner, along with any other ad hoc requirements
- Full knowledge of all menu items served
- Management of production to ensure minimal wastage
- Maintenance of food levels throughout all service periods
- Maintenance of food quality and brand standards
- Ensuring the maintenance of high hygiene and health and safety standards in line with Aramark requirements and identify any anomalies and incidents
- Capturing and recording all volumes consumed and overproduction
- A good knowledge level of Allergens & Natasha's law
- Assisting in the compilation of all shift opening and closing checklists
- Discussing ideas or improvements with line manager
- Act as a trainer/ coach for new team members to learn procedures and standards for all kitchen tasks.
- Undertake relevant training as required
- In addition to the above, Chefs may occasionally be required to undertake ad hoc back of house and front of house duties in line with business requirements.

- Experience operating as a Chef
- Organised with a hands on ability and strong work ethic
- Passion for people and food
- A full UK driving licence
