Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Ministry of Defence as a General Workshop Technician. As a key member of the 71 (Inspection and Repair) Squadron team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality manufacturing and repair services to support the Royal Air Force's operations.

Key Responsibilities

As a General Workshop Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Manufacturing and repairing components in accordance with given drawings and repair schemes.
  • Providing technical support to the off-site Additive Manufacturing facility.
  • Contributing to the efficient organisation and cleanliness of the workshop areas.
  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with Health and Safety Instructions at all times.
  • Ensuring that correct tool control procedures are followed.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • At least two years' experience working in a workshop manufacturing environment, including welding practices.
  • A NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds (or equivalent) in Fabrication and Welding.
  • Basic skills in IT, including Microsoft Office.
  • A driving licence, as travel may be required for training and detached duty.

Desirable Skills

Experience of manual turning and milling, or a qualification in Machining, would be advantageous. Working knowledge of 3D Feature-Cam drawing software for Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machines is also desirable.
