About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Supply Chain Manager to join our team at HS2 Ltd. As a key member of our Commercial Strategy team, you will play a critical role in providing a link between the Commercial Strategy team and the Supply Chain & Logistics team, ensuring effective communication and alignment between the two teams.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in supply chain management, with experience in managing a SCM or supplier engagement programme in either the public or private sector. You will have excellent analytical, commercial, and negotiating skills, as well as strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a link between the Commercial Strategy team and the Supply Chain & Logistics team
  • Facilitate effective communication between the two teams to ensure alignment between objectives
  • Provide input into the development of commercial strategies and plans, based on insights and feedback gathered from the Supply Chain & Logistics teams
  • Coordinate with the Supply Chain & Logistics team to ensure their input is incorporated into the commercial strategy and management process
  • Identify potential issues or risks that may arise from the development of a new commercial strategy
  • Provide regular updates and agreed reporting to senior management on the alignment between the Commercial Strategy and Supply Chain & Logistics teams
  • Manage internal and external SCM resources
  • Support the HS2 professional development process, conducting reviews, setting objectives, providing mentoring, training and support
  • Support the HS2 SCM recruitment process, including aiding the selection process and interviewing
  • First line of assurance for formal SCM Reports
  • Manage their respective SCM portfolio
  • Engage with and prepare industry for the scale of the HS2 procurement
  • Undertake Supply Chain Mapping to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and risks in the market place
  • Promote a culture of building excellent Supply Chain relationships
  • Lead market sounding exercises and contribute to the delivery of others as required
  • Lead meetings, workshops and engagement events required to support the delivery of SCM at HS2
  • Provide ongoing operation support in the maintenance of all sources of SCM data and tools
  • Support with the timely and accurate reporting in accordance with SCM programme governance
  • Work with other members of the commercial directorate team where cross working between the various groups and SCM is needed
  • Represent HS2 Ltd on steel issues and respond to FOI's, PQ's, and press enquires
  • Collate and present compliance data against PPN 11/16 (Steel Procurement Guidance) for Cabinet Office
