We are seeking a Strategic Portfolio Leader to join our team. This role will drive commercial performance, ensure quality solution design and delivery, and develop new business opportunities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Commercial Performance: Drive the commercial success of client projects, ensuring quality solution design and delivery.
  • New Business Development: Identify and develop new business opportunities with existing clients and new prospects.
  • Business Development Activity: Drive business development activity through networking, proposal development, and high-quality pitches.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Building Relationships: Take the lead in building or deepening relationships with a portfolio of clients.
  • Personal Branding: Build a personal brand that clients look to for advice and partnership.
  • Thought Leadership: Be viewed as a trusted and reliable thought leader and partner to clients.
  • Issue Resolution: Handle, resolve, and negotiate difficult issues with clients, suppliers, and other Duke CE units and teams.

Collaborative Design:

  • Understanding Client Needs: Understand client business context and challenges, and how those challenges relate to leadership.
  • Diagnostic Dialog: Lead a diagnostic dialog with clients, leading to business and learning outcomes.
  • Logical and Credible Design: Translate client requests into a logical and credible Duke CE design. Own the storyline and design decisions.
  • Portfolio Offerings: Understand Duke CE's portfolio of offerings and how those offerings relate to client needs.
  • Project Execution Excellence: Provide project execution excellence in the discovery to delivery process.

Leveraging Expertise:

  • Communication: Clearly communicate the session's topic, goal, and relevance to participants, ensuring delivery excellence against desired program outcomes.
  • Audience Interaction: Read audience and make adjustments as necessary to achieve exceptional delivery of content.
  • Encouraging Learning: Encourage audience interaction to improve learning.

Team Leadership:

  • Managing Direct Reports: Manage assigned direct reports, ensuring regular performance and development activities occur.
  • Mentoring and Coaching: Actively look for opportunities to mentor/advise employees who are not direct reports.
  • Building Individual and Organizational Capabilities: Leverage people and resources to build individual and organizational capabilities in a way that balances delivery excellence with meaningful growth opportunities for team members.

Contributing to Business Management:

  • Regional Capabilities: Build regional capabilities and supporting leadership decision making.
  • Ownership and Collaboration: Ownership of processes or special projects and identification of potential external talent.
  • Sharing Knowledge: Actively collaborate with peers across teams and geographies to share knowledge and support quality execution.
  • Contribution to Thinking: Contribute frequently to Duke CE thinking.

Acting as an Ambassador:

Acts as an ambassador for Duke CE's philosophy, brand, and culture within the office and externally.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) required.
  • Prior Experience: Prior project and client management experience in a senior-level role in a human capital development environment, preferably with experience in learning solutions.
  • Business Development Capability: Proven business development capability to identify potential clients and lead business growth in a revenue-generating role.
  • Executive Presence: Executive presence, projecting confidence and poise under pressure, and demonstrating gravitas with stakeholders at a senior level.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong financial acumen in areas of budgeting, pricing, forecasting, profit & loss, and reporting.
  • Integrity and Risk Mitigation: Operates with integrity, considering legal and ethical sides of situations and mitigating risks.
  • Network Development Abilities: Network development abilities, having established and leveraged external networks as a means to develop business, and internal networks to complete work efficiently.
  • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel routinely.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
