About the Role:

We are seeking passionate graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, or Education Studies to join a specialist school in Nottingham as Learning Support Assistants (LSA). This is a fantastic opportunity to work with children who have an EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan) for various conditions, including trauma, ADHD, ADD, OCD, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges.

This role is ideal for graduates aiming to gain practical experience in fields such as Clinical Psychology, Advocacy, Youth/Social Justice, or Education. You'll have the chance to work closely with students, helping them navigate their mental health and learning challenges, while gaining invaluable experience in the process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build trusting relationships with students using a restorative approach.
  • Support students with complex mental health and emotional needs.
  • Help demonstrate the value of education to students.
  • Assist in creating a safe and nurturing learning environment.
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure each student receives the necessary care and guidance.
  • Work with a large provision of 60 children, boys, and girls, aged 5-16.
  • Collaborate with outstanding SEN Professionals and like-minded Psychology and Criminology graduates.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, or Education Studies.
  • A genuine passion for working with children who have special educational needs.
  • The ability to build strong, comfort-based relationships with students.
  • A sincere interest in understanding the challenges faced by young people with mental health and trauma issues.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Resilience and adaptability to deal with a variety of emotional and behavioural challenges.
  • A valid Clear Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce/ Child and Adult Workforce) registered to the Update Service.
