We are seeking a highly skilled Public Sector Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Belfast, Northern Ireland. As a key member of the project team, you will play a critical role in supporting the financial and contractual elements of various public sector projects.

Role Overview

In this challenging and rewarding role, you will be responsible for managing costs, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting project teams in achieving successful outcomes.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for various stages of public sector projects. Assist in setting budgets, ensuring that costs align with initial forecasts, and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Cost Control and Management: Implement robust cost management practices throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring transparency and value for money. Monitor project expenditures, identify cost variances, and provide detailed reports to stakeholders.
  • Procurement and Tendering: Manage procurement processes, including preparing tender documents, evaluating bids, and negotiating contracts. Ensure that all procurement activities are compliant with public sector procurement regulations and organizational policies.
  • Contract Administration: Oversee the administration of contracts, including preparing contract documents, tracking key deliverables, and supporting the resolution of contractual issues. Ensure adherence to terms and mitigate any risks associated with contract performance.
Essential Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A professional qualification in Quantity Surveying (e.g., RICS-accredited degree or equivalent experience)
  • Strong understanding of quantity surveying principles, cost management, and project control methodologies
  • Proficient in using industry-standard software for cost estimation and project management
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a keen eye for detail, allowing for accurate cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly
  • Strong negotiation skills, with experience handling contract discussions
