Job Title: Senior Trading Standards Officer

As a key member of our Trading Standards team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the successful delivery of our business objectives. Your primary responsibility will be to contribute to the achievement of the Mayor's priorities and the Council's corporate objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with trading standards and business regulations.
  • Prepare prosecution reports and undertake project work to address non-compliance issues.
  • Work closely with businesses to raise compliance through a collaborative partnership approach.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with colleagues and partners to achieve sustainable and long-term improvements.
  • Undertake outreach work with communities to address behaviors that impact upon communities.
  • Enforce a full range of trading standards and ancillary legislation.
  • Contribute to the development and promotion of the Council's policies on equal opportunities and community relations.
  • Support field staff in the discharge of their duties and provide guidance and training to colleagues.
Requirements:
  • Acquire and apply specialist knowledge in a significant area of service delivery.
  • Communicate in a confident and assertive manner that aligns with established policies and priorities.
  • Take responsibility for keeping up to date with developments and providing training and guidance to colleagues.
