Job Summary

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy meeting new people and making a positive impact in their community. As a Group Support Volunteer with IW Volunteer, you will be part of a dedicated team that provides essential support to those affected by dementia.

About the Role

You will play a vital role in creating a welcoming environment where people affected by dementia can connect, access resources, and engage in meaningful activities. Your friendly demeanor, excellent communication skills, and willingness to learn about dementia will make a significant difference in the lives of our beneficiaries.

In this position, you will have the opportunity to develop your interpersonal skills, work collaboratively as part of a team, and contribute to the well-being of our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to individuals affected by dementia.
  • Assist in setting up and facilitating group activities, such as puzzles, quizzes, and arts and crafts.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • Excellent verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Awareness of or willingness to learn about dementia and its impact on individuals.
  • Empathy and compassion when interacting with people affected by dementia.
Availability

We require volunteers to commit to attending our monthly group sessions, held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 10:00 am to 12:45 pm.

Salary

The estimated salary for this role is £12,000 - £15,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
