Electrical Design Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at RED Engineering Design. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and delivery of electrical systems for data centres and other mission-critical projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical systems for data centres and other mission-critical projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure electrical systems meet client requirements.
  • Develop and specify applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for building engineering services purposes.
  • Survey, test, and report on existing electrical installations.
  • Specify activities to ensure manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing confirm to functional specifications and customer requirements.
  • Represent the company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams, and contractors.
  • Prepare specification modifications and ensure engineering calculations and drawings meet required industry and legal standards.
  • Validate Intermediate & Graduate Engineer input into designs.
Requirements:
  • HND or degree qualified or equivalent experience.
  • Working towards or have achieved MCIBSE/MIEE or equivalent.
  • Working towards Chartered Eng status.
  • Experience of specification design/drawing for at least one building type.
  • Sound knowledge of key Health and Safety issues and legislation.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, including Excel.
  • Ability to use IT based calculation and spreadsheet software.
  • Good understanding of BS standards.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload.
  • Ability to work to deadlines.
  • Managerial Skills.
  • Act in an ethical manner and follows the principles of the Ethics Charter and Ethics in Practice Guidelines.
