Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Cell Engineer Research Assistant to join our team at Babraham Research Campus Ltd. As a Cell Engineer Research Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting our cell engineering platform, providing a robust, state-of-the-art in-house service. This includes the development of the platform and coordinating the timely generation of deliverable reagents and the implementation of new technologies and SOPs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Execution of Genome Engineering Experiments: Design gene knock-out, knock-in, and strategies using contemporary gene editing technologies (e.g. CRISPR/Cas9). Execute contemporary gene editing technologies, primarily in human iPSCs, including sample tracking, QC, and data interpretation.
- Monitoring and Improvement of Laboratory Activities: Monitor key areas of day-to-day laboratory activities, ensuring the smooth running of the team's activities and identifying opportunities to improve or areas of risk.
- Staying Up-to-Date with Genetic Engineering: Stay up-to-date with key aspects of genetic engineering, vector assembly, and novel cell line engineering processes through internal and external training/seminar opportunities.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: Degree qualified in Biological Sciences or proven practical experience in molecular biology or gene editing in human ES/iPS cells.
- Theoretical Knowledge and Practical Experience: Good theoretical knowledge and practical experience of PCR, RT-PCR, Western blotting, nucleic acid extraction, and molecular cloning, or genome engineering in mammalian cell lines.
- Gene Editing Techniques: Good theoretical understanding and knowledge of modern gene editing techniques and their applications.
- Communication Skills: Proven ability to communicate research/project outputs through written or oral communication.
- Publication Record: Proven record of contributing to research articles and publications.
