Specification Technologist Opportunity

Reed Food & FMCG is seeking a skilled Specification Technologist to join a leading Food Manufacturing Business in Wiltshire. This 12-month Fixed Term Contract will cover maternity leave, with a period of handover before starting.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a family-run business that produces premium products for major retailers like M&S and Waitrose. The company culture is excellent, and the role offers a great challenge for those with experience writing specifications in the Food Industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and review finished product specifications
  • Provide technical details for new artwork generation, including shelf life, nutrition, ingredient declaration, weights, storage guidelines, and allergen information
  • Review and approve packaging and product artwork
  • Generate outer case labels, catering, single-serve, and bulk product labels, as well as export product labels
  • Inform the business of any changes to labelling requirements for all relevant markets, including export
  • Answer questions from colleagues and customers regarding product specifications, raw materials, and labelling

Candidate Requirements:

  • Must have specification experience within the food industry, preferably as a Spec Tech or in a similar role
  • Knowledge of food processing and legislation to produce compliant information
  • Experience with customer specification systems, such as Waitrose WPP, M&S FIND, Hamilton Grant, and Erudus
