Job Opportunity: Residential Therapeutic Child Carer

Sanctuary Personnel Ltd, a leading recruitment agency, is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill a permanent position as a Residential Therapeutic Child Carer in a residential service in Medway.

Job Purpose:

Medway Council is committed to providing high-quality in-house children's residential provision. We are opening a new children's home, renovated to the highest possible standards, and are looking for a talented individual to join our team as the Registered Manager.

As the Registered Manager, you will be responsible for providing motivation, leadership, and management necessary to ensure high-quality residential care for children. You will work under the general guidance of the relevant Service Manager and within the framework of current legislation.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Develop a Culture of Empowerment: Create an environment where children are central to the decision-making process, where their views are encouraged, and their wishes and feelings are always considered.
  2. Promote Therapeutic Model: Develop and implement a therapeutic model of working with children, inspired by your strengths and understanding.
  3. Enhance Resilience: Develop each child's resilience, preparing them for their next steps.
  4. Create a Safe Environment: Create an environment where children can share their experiences and safely express themselves while being assured that they will continue to be cared for and loved.
  5. Academic Progress: Encourage children to make measurable progress in attaining their individual academic potential and prioritize the importance of keeping children in their current school placement.
  6. Secure Base: Build a secure base within the home, allowing children who have left to maintain relationships with staff through planned regular opportunities to meet.
  7. Legislative Compliance: Overall responsibility for the implementation and compliance of all relevant legislation (i.e., Children Act 1989, Health and Safety Act 1974, Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Care Standards Act 2000) and ensure staff adherence.
  8. Safety and Well-being: Consistently ensure the safety and well-being of each child is at the heart of everyday practice.
  9. Quality Standards: Aim to exceed the quality standards for children's homes.
  10. Occupancy Management: Maintain occupancy for up to six children [5 in the main home and one in the annex].
  11. Professional Relationships: Establish excellent working relationships with professionals with a common interest in the child.
