Job Summary

Primary Care Careers is seeking a skilled Prescription Clerk to join our team. As a Prescription Clerk, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical practice's prescription management system.

Main Responsibilities

  • Process repeat prescriptions on a daily basis, adhering to our practice protocol.
  • Respond to prescription queries from healthcare professionals, including GPs, nurses, community pharmacists, and nursing home staff.
  • Support our practice pharmacists as needed.
  • Manage medication changes from hospital letters, removing old medication, adding new, or making dose changes, and send letters to patients with confirmation of changes.
  • Effectively manage your time, workload, and resources.
  • Add new patient medication, pass it to the registered GP for approval, and highlight any concerns found. Liaise with patients via phone call or letter.
  • Ensure medication reviews are arranged with an appropriate clinician.
  • Support the prescribing manager with practice administration and clerical duties as needed.
  • Previous NHS experience, ideally within a GP setting, is desirable.
  • Medical terminology knowledge and data handling skills are essential.
