Senior SEO Manager

The Telegraph is seeking a highly skilled Senior SEO Manager to lead its Audience team in driving organic growth strategies. As a key member of the SEO team, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing high-quality content across multiple evergreen channels, ensuring optimal ranking and performance.

Reporting to the Head of Evergreen SEO, you will work closely with the wider SEO team to manage long-life content strategies, collaborate with editorial staff on best practices, identify optimization opportunities, and report on key performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute evergreen content strategies, planning, briefing, and optimizing content for multiple desks.
  • Lead and improve a small team of evergreen SEOs, fostering their growth and development to achieve personal and business objectives.
  • Analyze content performance across core evergreen categories, such as Health and Money, to continually optimize performance.
  • Design and manage monthly reports for senior team members, ensuring easy understanding and actionable insights.
  • Contribute to the creation, improvement, and maintenance of evergreen SEO guides and training materials for writers and the SEO team.
  • Collaborate with the editorial team, providing SEO advice, training sessions, options, and optimizations.
  • Work with the technical SEO team to create product improvements from a technical perspective.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest SEO trends, attending events, and staying ahead of the search engine ecosystem.
  • Plan events, conduct keyword research, and work with the news SEO team to maximize event-driven traffic and support the wider team.
Requirements
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Thorough understanding of Google, Google Discover, and SEO principles.
  • Experience managing SEO content projects from inception to completion.
  • Analytical and data-driven approach to identifying content opportunities, trending topics, and delivering actionable insights.
  • Ability to build relationships across the business.
  • Experience delivering strategic presentations to senior stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using industry-leading tools (GSC, Screaming Frog, ahrefs, SemRush, etc.).
  • Numerate and fluent in aggregating and analyzing core campaign performance metrics.
