Job Title: Computer Science Finance Director

About the Role:
The University of Cambridge is seeking an exceptional finance professional to lead its Department of Computer Science and Technology. As Head of Finance, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the department's financial strategy, ensuring compliance with regulations, and managing the Finance and Research Grants Team.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the department's financial operations, including setting financial strategy, developing financial plans, and making key decisions on financial matters.

  1. Determine the department's financial strategy and develop long-range financial plans.
  2. Manage the Finance and Research Grants Team, ensuring high standards are maintained and opportunities for career development are available.
  3. Collaborate with academics, researchers, and colleagues to develop new research lines and teach the next generation of computer scientists.

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need to be a highly numerate and analytical finance professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should have experience of management accounting, business modelling, and data-driven decision making.

  • Educated to degree level or level 7 vocational qualification, with an accounting qualification (ACMA, ACA, ACCA, CIPFA), or equivalent practical experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of standard software packages, particularly Excel.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary of £80,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits including 41 days holiday inclusive of public holidays, membership of the USS pension scheme, and optional hybrid working.
