Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Production Director to oversee our two fabrication sites, ensuring customer satisfaction, efficient operations, and high standards in line with Lean Manufacturing and ISO principles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage Production Activities: Supervise all production activities, ensuring that production targets are met and quality standards are maintained and improved on.
  • Manage Production Resources: Manage staffing levels, skills, and performance to ensure the business can meet and exceed set plans.
  • Manage Customers: Be the point of contact for all customer escalations, ensuring customer expectations are met and exceeded in accordance with business expectations.
  • Manage Suppliers: Monitor and manage supplier mix and performance in line with business expectations, managing productivity and quality aspects of suppliers.
  • Local HR Leader: Manage staff on-site properly, executing disciplinary procedures in line with the set process, developing skills metrics, and development plans in line with business needs.
  • H&S Leader: Develop, implement, and enforce health and safety directives on all Oldham sites, being responsible for overall H&S for both fabrication sites in Oldham.
  • Equipment Availability and OEE: Ensure all business-critical equipment is maintained and serviced properly, maximizing the availability of production equipment and achieving the highest possible OEE.
  • Quality Leader: Ensure the business follows ISO principles and best practices, establishing and maintaining a strong Quality culture aiming for Zero Defects, leading root cause analysis investigations, and reporting quality metrics to the GM.
  • Develop and Lead CI Initiatives: Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean principles to improve business efficiency and customer experience.
  • Quotation Management: Overall responsibility for local quoting activity, ensuring quotes are completed within 48 hours, documented properly, and managed resources in terms of staffing and qualifications.
  • Sales Responsibility: Support sales activities to maximize the ability to generate business from existing customers and potential new customers, entertaining customer meetings and tours.
  • Overall CF Responsibility: Ensure the CF forecast is accurate and maintained, making decisions in line with the GM to improve the overall CF of the business.
  • Overall Margin Responsibility: Set and ensure margin targets in line with GM expectations, ensuring they are understood by every team member on the sites in accordance with their jobs and how they contribute towards them.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in operations management within fabrication.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership in production and resource management.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in MS365 and MRP systems.
  • Lean and ISO: Expertise in Lean Manufacturing and ISO compliance.
Salary:

£80,000 - £100,000 per annum, depending on experience.
