We are delighted to be representing an engineering business in North-East Manchester who design, develop, and manufacture high-tech materials for the aerospace and automotive industries.
Our client has a strong, positive culture that is growing from strength to strength, with a focus on employee development and progression. As Production Manager, you will be responsible for leading the Production Team to ensure productivity, schedule, and efficiency targets are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Management of the Planning function to develop and maintain production schedules to meet and exceed business and customer demands.
- Responsible for ensuring effective capacity management of production plant, material, and labour resources is available to discharge the plan.
- Recruitment, interviews, induction, and training of new starters.
- Monitoring and achieving performance to plan, communicating delays in a timely manner, and taking appropriate actions to recover the schedule.
- Driving efficiency in every aspect of the Production Department, producing and communicating Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports.
- Maintenance of housekeeping standards to a very high level.
- Collaboration with Engineering and Quality departments to ensure the smooth transition of New Product Introduction through FAI and into recurring production.
- Building and sustaining an environment and culture of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Driving the Company vision and promoting how the Production Team contributes to the overall success of the Business.
Requirements:
- Proven strong personal leadership and communication abilities with previous experience of production management or similar at a management level.
- People management skills, including the ability to inspire and motivate, to delegate responsibilities, and to explain ideas.
- Accuracy and attention to detail with an understanding of business financial impacts from production operations.
- Ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines, and a flexible approach to work.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety and legal requirements for production operations.
- Experience of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems and auditing.
- Competent user of Microsoft IT Packages.
- A knowledge of ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics NAV would be beneficial, but not essential).
