About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Richmond Village Witney. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen, providing exceptional service to our residents, and maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist our Chefs in preparing simple meals and ancillary items for service, adhering to our high standards of quality and presentation.
- Wash dishes by hand or load the dishwasher, ensuring all items are stored neatly and safely to minimize breakages.
- Sweep and mop kitchen floors to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Wash worktables, walls, kitchen equipment, and appliances, adhering to our cleaning schedules.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, transferring items between storage and work areas.
- Ensure the kitchen is kept tidy and secure, with rubbish removed and all supplies stored in their designated places.
- Adhere to our company's Food Safety and Health and Safety policies at all times, maintaining accurate records as required.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will have a basic understanding of Health and Safety and knowledge of maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment. An up-to-date CIEH Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or equivalent) and previous experience in a catering department or kitchen would be advantageous. Ideally, you will have some knowledge of working in a care environment and stock control, as well as the ability to prepare simple meals. You will be organized, adaptable, and able to work well within a team and under your own initiative.
