About the Role

The Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician is a key position within Great Western Railway (GWR) responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our rolling stock. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional results.

Main Responsibilities
  • Perform safety-critical and non-safety-critical tasks on the West Fleet units in accordance with Train Vehicle Maintenance Instructions.
  • Conduct maintenance exams and heavy component changes.
  • Complete general depot duties, including maintenance activities, fault finding, and defect reporting.
  • Attend out-of-course failures on the main line and ensure rail vehicles are safe to be moved after work has been completed.
  • Carry out 'Safety of Line' checks when required prior to the movement of rail vehicles.
Requirements
  • A strong understanding of safety standards and a commitment to adhering to procedures.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and decipher engineering schematic drawings.
  • Experience in rolling stock maintenance, with a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.
