Fleet Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Fleet Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of our diverse truck and trailer fleet. This includes curtainsiders, box trailers, double deckers, and more.

To be successful in this role, you must have a confident understanding of HGVs and trailers, and a background in HGV mechanical maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance of Fleet and Equipment
  • Organise and document planned maintenance efficiently using our fleet management platform
  • Receive and respond to vehicle and equipment breakdown and damage repair requests
  • Record all fleet maintenance activity accurately and efficiently using our fleet management software
  • Ensure customers are informed of any issues regarding fleet maintenance or breakdowns
  • Liaise with workshops, mobile, and third-party engineers to organise fleet maintenance tasks
  • Receive and allocate breakdown calls to engineers/service agents
  • Ensure all fleet maintenance documentation is accurately entered into software programmes and databases
  • Answer telephone for fleet enquiries, responding professionally and efficiently
  • Organise recovery services and replacement vehicles in the event of a breakdown
  • Maintain records for road tax and MOT schedules to ensure vehicles and trailers are compliant for road use
  • Control and approve repair costs, authorising vehicle warranty and maintenance repairs within financial control limits
  • Control costs without affecting safety or customer service standards
  • Provide accurate reports to fleet and operational teams as requested
  • Be conversant with organisational policies and procedures, and software systems used to support processes
  • Report incidents in accordance with company policy
  • Work as part of a team to ensure engagement and two-way communication
  • Must have a mechanical background and engineering qualifications

Reports Directly To: Operations Manager / Managing Director

Salary: Up to £45,000

Hours of Work: Monday - Friday 08:00 - 17:30 with 1 in 4 Saturday morning rota from 08:00 - 12:00

Holiday: 20 days holiday plus all bank holidays

Loyalty Bonus: After 2 years of service (1 day additional holiday and up to an extra 5 days after 7 years)
