Job Title: SEND Teacher - English Specialist

Job Location: Oakwood Specialist College, Yate, BS37 5JB

Salary: Between £27,300 and £33,600 per annum, based on 40 hours per week, 42.4 weeks of the year.

Contract Type: Permanent

At Phoenix Learning and Care Group, we believe that every individual deserves access to meaningful education. As a SEND Teacher - English Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring that neurodiverse young adults (aged 16-25) receive the best possible education opportunities.

Our curriculum is designed to cater to the unique needs of each learner, focusing on functional English skills and adapting to individual target outcomes. You will work closely with the teaching team to embed functional English in every learner's bespoke curriculum, leading classroom activities, and assessing learning.

A Day in the Life:

  • Develop and deliver English curriculum for learners with varying mathematical abilities.
  • Monitor and record progress, both academically and against EHCP outcomes.
  • Work closely with learners to keep them engaged, motivated, and inspired to reach their full potential.
  • Provide inspirational learning opportunities, either one-to-one or in small group settings.
  • Collaborate with Learning Support Assistants to direct them in effectively supporting learners.
  • Be adaptable in your teaching style, recognizing the diverse needs of each learner.

Requirements:

  • Patient, compassionate, and resilient, with the ability to work with neurodiverse learners.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to contribute to resources and share information effectively.
  • Ability to be involved in EHCPs and shape a curriculum based on individual target outcomes.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with a genuine interest in a career focused on inclusive education.
