About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Archaeological Consultant to join our Heritage team in Basingstoke, Birmingham, Bristol, or London offices. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering high-quality cultural heritage assessments, heritage statements, and environmental statements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the UK planning system and British archaeology, as well as experience in delivering archaeological planning processes, including field evaluation and mitigation design.

As a Senior Archaeological Consultant, you will be responsible for undertaking formal quality assurance of reporting, providing mentor support and task-specific training for graduate and consultant-grade staff, and ensuring health and safety procedures are followed at all times.

You will also be expected to work closely with clients, colleagues, and other discipline leads to provide optimum project delivery, contribute innovative ideas to enhance AECOM's and the Heritage team's offering, and contribute to training workshops for other team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality cultural heritage assessments, heritage statements, and environmental statements
  • Undertake formal quality assurance of reporting
  • Provide mentor support and task-specific training for graduate and consultant-grade staff
  • Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times
  • Work closely with clients, colleagues, and other discipline leads to provide optimum project delivery
  • Contribute innovative ideas to enhance AECOM's and the Heritage team's offering
  • Contribute to training workshops for other team members

Requirements:

  • Relevant first degree and/or post-graduate qualification in archaeology
  • Appropriate level of membership of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists or equivalent
  • Technical and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills
