About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our team at Biffa Waste Services. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of our treatment plants, transfer stations, and packaged goods transport operations.

Your primary focus will be on ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our facilities, while also driving business growth and improving customer satisfaction. You will work closely with our site managers, project managers, and maintenance teams to achieve our operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the performance of our operations teams, ensuring they meet their targets and KPIs.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer service.
  • Collaborate with our maintenance teams to ensure our facilities are well-maintained and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead incident investigations and disciplinary hearings, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Develop and implement risk assessments and method statements to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Work closely with our project managers to develop and implement new projects and initiatives.
  • Manage our relationships with external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.

Requirements

  • Degree in a relevant field, such as chemical engineering or environmental science.
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification.
  • Proven experience in managing operations teams in the hazardous waste industry.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills, with the ability to inspire and develop your team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations, including ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001.
