At Biffa, we're looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join our team at the Wednesbury Treatment Centre. As a key member of our operations team, you'll be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the site, ensuring the highest standards of safety, health, and environmental performance.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the operations of the Wednesbury Treatment Plant and Transfer Station, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer service.
- Lead and motivate a team of personnel, providing coaching, training, and development opportunities to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their roles effectively.
- Collaborate with other departments, including maintenance and project management, to ensure seamless integration and effective communication.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Degree in a relevant field, such as chemical engineering or a related science.
- Proven experience in managing operational teams in the hazardous waste industry, preferably in a physical-chemical treatment and/or hazardous waste transfer station environment.
- Strong leadership and motivational skills, with the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.
- Computer literacy, with proficiency in MS Office applications and other relevant software.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including hazardous waste regulations and ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standards.
