Job Summary

We are committed to providing high-quality education services to children and young people with hearing impairments. As a Teacher of the Deaf, you will play a vital role in supporting the development of our students and helping them to achieve their full potential.

About the Role

This post is based within our Education Directorate, and you will be responsible for delivering effective teaching services to children and young people attending the Ayrshire Hearing Impairment Service. A willingness to undertake the mandatory PG Dip Teacher of the Deaf qualification is desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide both monitor and direct teaching support to address areas of learning impacted by deafness.
  • Visit children and their families at home and in educational establishments to provide support and guidance.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans.
  • Contribute to the development of educational resources and materials to support the needs of deaf children and young people.
