Program Management Role

We are seeking a skilled Technical Program Manager to join our team at WhatsApp. As a Technical Program Manager, you will be responsible for developing and managing end-to-end cross-functional programs, ensuring timely delivery and effective coordination across various functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage cross-functional programs, ensuring timely delivery and effective coordination across various functions.
  • Assume responsibility for program execution within a matrix organization, facilitating coordination across various functions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and other key cross-functional teams to define program requirements, set priorities, and establish scope.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to drive technical analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and post-implementation phases.
  • Manage cross-functional dependencies, risks, and changes effectively by optimizing scope, schedule, and resources accordingly.
  • Drive and influence technical and product strategy, proactively identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, align priorities, and effectively influence the direction for a broadly cross-functional area.
  • Develop and own communication plans to effectively and proactively communicate program status, issues, and risks to stakeholders.
  • Collaboratively define the vision for building Meta-scale, state-of-the-art, global products.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience within systems engineering, hardware engineering, software engineering, or technical product/program management experience.
  • Experience delivering technical programs or products from inception to delivery, and fully understand and own the development lifecycle process(es).
  • Experience defining strategic direction and identifying new opportunities for impact amongst products, platforms, and programs.
  • Experience operating proactively and autonomously across multiple teams, demonstrating critical thinking, thought leadership, and ability to operate in an ambiguous environment.
  • Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems.
  • Ability to motivate and focus a large collaboration to reach challenging goals.
  • Knowledge of user needs, gathering requirements, and defining scope.
  • Experience establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and multiple partners in different time zones.
  • Effective oral and written communicator, with demonstrated abilities to drive complex technical conversations, summarize, and present technical content to technical and non-technical leaders or audiences.
  • Strong competence with systematic prioritization and decision making.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in building or managing system software components like messaging systems or cloud infrastructure, preferably in a large-scale environment.
  • Experience with disambiguating technical and cross-functional problems.
