Job Overview
Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited is seeking a skilled Town Planner to join our team in the North of England. As a Town Planner, you will be responsible for providing expert planning advice to clients across various sectors, including local government, private developers, and community groups.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement planning strategies for clients, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Conduct site visits and assessments to identify planning opportunities and challenges.
- Prepare and submit planning applications, including drafting reports and presentations.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including engineers, environmental specialists, and project managers, to deliver multidisciplinary projects.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and community groups to ensure effective communication and project delivery.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in planning laws and regulations, and provide expert advice to clients accordingly.
Requirements
- Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or close to qualification.
- Relevant experience working in consultancy, local authority planning teams, or similar.
- Sound knowledge of planning law and procedures, as well as commercial awareness and project budget management.
- Proven experience in managing and delivering multidisciplinary projects, with strong report writing, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to build successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and to check and review complex documents.
