About the Role

Leeds City College is seeking a highly skilled Lead Assessor to join its School of Engineering team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for inspiring the next generation of young people into the industry.

Working at our Printworks Campus, you will be in a state-of-the-art environment supporting students to complete their apprenticeship and ensure they are ready to take that step into employment at the end of their course.

The successful candidate will have engineering experience, preferably in the utilities sector or related industry, and a minimum of Level 4 qualification in an Engineering discipline. They will also hold an assessor's award V1, TAQA or equivalent, and have previous experience of working with young people and apprentices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Visiting apprentices in the workplace, liaising with employers, mentors and college teaching teams to ensure timely and successful completion for all students.
  • Leading and supervising a team of assessors, including all duties normally associated with the management of staff such as appraisals, mentoring and performance management.
  • Managing a caseload of learners, organising workplace assessment visits and meetings with employers.
  • Producing and monitoring individual learning plans for learners and contributing to their updating (including Functional Skills and 20% of the job training).
  • Leading, contributing and participating in the assessment and quality assurance procedures for all programmes/training provision, including Internal Verification to the prescribed standards.

About You

  • Have engineering experience preferably in the utilities sector or related industry.
  • Have previous experience of working with young people and apprentices.
  • Hold a minimum of Level 4 qualification in an Engineering discipline.
  • Hold an assessor's award V1, TAQA or equivalent.
