Job Title: Apprentice Controls Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Apprentice Controls Engineer to join our team at Airedale International Air Conditioning Ltd. As a key member of our Controls Department, you will play a crucial role in developing and testing software solutions that automate mechanical components of our products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and test software solutions that automate mechanical components of our products.
  • Assist with the specification and validation of controls hardware and electronics.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to design, develop, and qualify platform product development projects and proprietary key customer projects.
  • Use development tools to manage software improvements and bug fixes on existing products.
  • Support manufacturing to ensure the quality of products leaving the factory.
  • Assist the R&D test laboratory with validation testing of engineering prototypes and bespoke products for key customers.
Requirements:
  • Experience with PLC or microcontroller technology and IEC61131 programming languages.
  • Good knowledge of the fundamental principles of electronics and experience working with electrical systems.
  • A basic understanding of mechanical systems and the fundamentals of thermodynamics.
  • Minimum Degree level in an Engineering discipline, preferably Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or Computer Science.
  • Must be able to work on projects autonomously and be self-motivated.
  • Previous experience in industrial automation, especially with HVAC or BMS specific controls systems.
  • Understanding of building management systems (BMS) and datacentre HVAC applications.
