Temporary Works Design Engineer

Balfour Beatty is seeking a skilled Temporary Works Design Engineer to join our Regional team in the UKCS Regional Civils sector. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and checking temporary works for individual projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and check temporary bridges, scaffolding, and edge protection for projects across the UKCS Regional Civils sector.
- Ensure internal and subcontractor designs meet the temporary works design brief and are delivered within the required timescale.
- Identify and mitigate design risks, preparing designers' risk assessments and communicating residual design risks as necessary.
- Complete technical approval documents, including Approval in Principles (AIPs) for National Highways and Form C documents for Network Rail.
- Provide technical support to site and office-based teams to ensure compliance with the Balfour Beatty Temporary Works Management Procedure.
- Collaborate with work-winning teams to develop safe, innovative, and cost-effective temporary works solutions.
- Postgraduate experience in design (temporary and/or permanent works design) or site experience.
- Awareness of current design standards, codes of practice, and published guidance documents relevant to temporary works.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey engineering ideas and principles.
- Working experience of AutoCAD and various design software packages used for Temporary Works designs and checks.
- Smart working with up to 40% remote working, where roles allow.
- 25 days paid annual leave (pro rata).
