Environmental Scientist

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Environmental Scientist to join our team in Sittingbourne, Kent. As an Environmental Scientist, you will play a key role in supporting our work in Environmental Claims, dealing with land-based oil spills and other incidents.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct Phase I and Phase II site investigations to identify potential environmental hazards.
- Collect and analyze soil and groundwater samples to determine the extent of contamination.
- Supervise excavations and ensure that all necessary safety protocols are followed.
- Prepare and send samples to accredited laboratories for analysis.
- Assist in the preparation of Health and Safety documentation for site works.
- Conduct remediation site inspections to ensure that all work is completed to the required standards.
- Monitor and collate data from in-situ remediation systems.
- Liaise with contractors to ensure that all work is completed on time and to budget.
- Operate scientific equipment to collect and analyze data.
- Update project records to ensure that all information is accurate and up-to-date.
- Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Assist with the maintenance of stores and ensure that all equipment is in good working order.
We are looking for a candidate with a degree in an environment/land related subject, although candidates from a more practical background or with experience dealing with oil spills for insurance companies may also be considered. A CSCS card is desirable, but not essential as the company will provide the necessary training.
The successful candidate will have excellent literacy and reporting skills, a flexible attitude to work, and the enthusiasm and drive to deliver the requirements of this role. Ability to work as an effective member of a team and on your own initiative will be essential, along with excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills. A full UK/EC driving licence is essential as the job will require travel across the South of England.
