Job Summary and Duties

As an SEN Teacher at Brookthorpe Hall School, you will play a key role in delivering a person-centred approach to education. This will involve working closely with pupils, parents and colleagues to identify individual needs and develop bespoke learning plans.

You will be expected to lead the teaching of and co-ordinate flexible, person-centred programmes of study for individuals and groups of pupils. Your duties will include preparing, planning and assessing teaching sessions, while maintaining an awareness of curriculum developments.

You will also be required to build relationships with all students, encouraging their interest and participation in their education. You will create an environment that is stimulating and purposeful for all pupils, promoting teaching and learning outside the formal classroom settings.

Key Skills Required:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status
  • Have a background of teaching a range of subjects, delivering teaching at a good or outstanding level
  • Knowledge of current education issues in relation to terms of practice, process and curriculum
  • Be experienced in or have an interest working within an SEN setting, supporting pupils with challenging behaviour (SEMH/ASD)
