At Leonardo, we are seeking an Aerospace Electrical Technical Support Apprentice to join our team. As a key player in the Aerospace, Defence, and Security sectors, we offer a unique opportunity for individuals to develop their skills and knowledge in electrical engineering.
Programme Description
Our Aerospace Electrical Technical Support apprenticeship is designed for those interested in the theoretical side of engineering, including planning, scheduling, design, development, and test elements of electrical engineering. You will experience a number of placements across the Engineering department, with the ultimate aim of moving you into a final placement area based on business requirements and the skills displayed during the apprenticeship.

The Structure of the Apprenticeship Programme
Year 1: Full-time at Yeovil College to complete a Level 2 competence qualification in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and start a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering. Post-Christmas, there is a possibility of working on-site in your placement at Leonardo Helicopters for 1 or more days per week.
Year 2: Work placements at Leonardo Helicopters (4 days per week) and starting the Level 3 competence qualification in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering. Attend Yeovil College (1 day per week) to complete the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.
Year 3: Work placements at Leonardo Helicopters (4 days per week) and continuing the Level 3 competence qualification in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering. Attend Yeovil College (1 day per week) to start the Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Aeronautical Engineering.
Year 4: Work placements at Leonardo Helicopters (4 days per week) and completing the Level 3 competence qualification in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering. Attend Yeovil College (1 day per week) to complete the Level 4 HNC in Aeronautical Engineering.
Throughout the apprenticeship, you may be placed in some or all of the following departmental areas: Structural Design, Rotor Design, Transmission Design, Materials Laboratory, Structural Mechanical Test and Evaluation, Electrical Design, Avionics, Power Generation Systems, Electro-magnetic Environmental Effects, Systems Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering.

Qualifications Required
5 GCSEs at a minimum of a C/4, including GCSE Maths at a minimum of a B/6. These grades are non-negotiable.
