**About the Role**

We are seeking an experienced Senior Expert in Safety and Security to join our team at National Nuclear Laboratory. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong background in EHSS&Q, leadership, and capability development to make a real impact.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering projects, programs, and technical work while ensuring the safe operations of equipment and facilities. They will also be accountable for staff leadership, performance, availability, SQEP, competency review, development, technical training, progression, and recruitment.

In addition, they will oversee budget control, including staff costs, facilities, and equipment maintenance, renewal, disposal, repair, inspection, access, and utilisation. The role requires strong technical excellence in customer delivery, technical resolution, and leadership accountabilities.

Key Responsibilities:**

  • EHSS&Q Accountabilities: Duty of care for all staff, ownership and safe operations of equipment and facilities, delivery of projects, programs, and technical work, and delivery of the EHSS&Q Assurance and Improvement Plans.
  • Capability Accountabilities: Staff leadership, performance, availability, SQEP, competency review, development, technical training, progression, and recruitment, as well as facilities & equipment maintenance, renewal, disposal, repair, inspection, access, and utilisation.
  • Budget Control Accountabilities: Staff costs, facilities, and equipment maintenance, renewal, disposal, repair, inspection, access, and utilisation.
  • Customer Delivery Accountabilities: Working with Account Directors and Customer Workstream Leads to engage with customers, maximise business opportunities, and deliver technical excellence.
  • Leadership Accountabilities: Developing the team, recognising technical advancements, implementing team strategy, and reviewing quality of science and customer delivery.

Requirements:

  • A directly relevant science degree or equivalent level of experience.
  • Line management experience.
  • Ability to work to high-quality standards in a highly regulated environment.
  • Ability to obtain SC level security clearance.
