Join Our Team as a Senior Management Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Management Accountant to join our team at RES, the world's largest independent renewable energy company. As a Senior Management Accountant, you will play a critical role in delivering financial support services to our clients, ensuring the accuracy and quality of our financial reports, and providing expert advice to our management team.

About the Role

This is a hybrid role that requires occasional travel to support our teams across both offices. You will work closely with our UK & I Asset Management department, which is responsible for delivering financial support services under Management Service Agreements (MSAs) across multiple clients owning renewable assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the preparation of monthly management accounts and assist with issues or problems that arise.
  • Be the trusted business partner and first point of contact for any issues, proposals, or client-related matters that need escalation.
  • Deliver periodic cash flow forecasts and distribution calculations with clear bridge analysis.
  • Coordinate the annual budgeting process and ensure full board approvals.
  • Prepare quarterly board reports and present finance sections at board meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, specifically with regards to OFGEM.
  • Manage bank compliance model preparation and loan covenant calculations, interest, and principal repayments, and any other banking requirements.
  • Review VAT returns for all asset-managed entities before submission.
  • Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts and ensure consistency, quality, and compliance with applicable accounting standards (FRS 101, FRS 102, IFRS) and Companies Acts for all asset-managed entities.
  • Prepare consolidated annual accounts with applicable accounting standards featuring multiple operational entities and externally financed holding companies, which include complex accounting treatments.
  • Onboard new projects into the asset management portfolio.
  • Support continuous improvements to accounting and reporting processes together with the wider Finance and ERP Development teams.
  • Help with contract review for financial obligations, often reviewing calculations and preparing Contract Summaries as and when needed.
Requirements
  • Strong accounting knowledge.
  • IFRS, FRS 102, FRS 101, and UK GAAP.
  • Understanding of both management and statutory accounting.
  • Excellent technical accounting skills.
  • Ability to scrutinize and analyze numbers to identify errors, variance analysis, and raise questions.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • A team player but with the discipline to work autonomously.
  • Ability to articulate financial information to non-finance specialists.
  • Good communication skills and the confidence and credibility to communicate to external parties.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Adaptability to frequent change.
  • Quick learner – grasp the needs of the department very quickly with minimal supervision.
  • Proactive, 'can-do' attitude, with a focus on continuous improvement of reporting and analysis.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and accountancy systems skills.
Experience
  • Experience of monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounting routines within a commercial organization.
  • Ability to deal with multiple entities and multiple clients.
  • Sound experience of using an ERP system (use of Agresso/Business World a distinct advantage but not essential).
  • Experience in communicating with non-financial internal stakeholders.
  • Preparation of statutory financial statements under IFRS, FRS 101, and FRS 102.
  • Ability to set up processes, templates, and simplify.
  • Experience of working with complex templates/spreadsheets is a must.
  • Ability to work in collaboration with others effectively.
  • Team management experience.
Qualifications
  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • 5+ years working in renewables or similar industry.
