Transport Operations Manager

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Transport Shift Manager to join our team at Stobart. We are seeking a proactive individual who can lead and manage a team to execute traffic plans, ensuring the delivery of products to customers within agreed service levels.
Key Responsibilities:- Transport Staff Management: Manage and motivate a team of Transport staff to execute traffic plans and ensure the safe and efficient movement of products.
- Cost Control: Work closely with the Transport Manager to control costs and ensure they are in line with budget and forecast expectations.
- Fleet Management: Ensure that all available fleet is on the road and declared to enable the Planning Team to plan resources effectively.
- Resourcing: Manage holiday allocations and ensure there is enough resource to meet customer requirements.
- Training and Development: Motivate and develop the team through engagement, training, and personal development plans.
- Incident Management: Manage any incidents or accidents and follow the process through investigations and the EOA system.
- Kronos Monitoring: Be responsible for Kronos monitoring and approving drivers' clocking on and off shift.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that the Transport team and drivers comply with all relevant regulations and site procedures.
- Maintenance and Servicing: Ensure that annual MOTs and service intervals on all fleet equipment are carried out on time and the relevant paperwork is obtained.
- Customer Reviews: Attend monthly customer review meetings in the absence of the Transport Manager.
- Service Improvement: Support the implementation of service improvements in conjunction with customers and other areas of the business.
This is a 4 on 4 off night shift role, with a working pattern of 18:00-06:00. We are proud to be an inclusive and diverse organisation where we are committed to employee development and recognising success for hard working performers.
Requirements:- Previous supervisory experience within a busy transport environment.
- Good commercial knowledge of transport operations.
- Planning and organising skills with a high level of numeracy.
- Leadership and motivational qualities and proven experience of building a team.
- An effective communicator at all levels, good verbal and written skills.
- Personal motivation and confidence resulting in a positive impact.
- Able to thrive in a highly competitive and demanding environment.
- National and International CPC qualification - desirable.
