About the Role:

Selwood Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Yard Operations Supervisor to join our team at our Chandlers Ford branch. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a vital role in supporting the smooth running of our branch, ensuring the efficient management of our yard and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and assist with various duties in the yard, including loading and unloading of vehicles, checking equipment against paperwork, and identifying and reporting any hazards or near misses.
  • Assist with the physical handling of equipment, including lifting and moving heavy items, and ensure that all equipment is properly cleaned and maintained.
  • Conduct daily checks of the yard to ensure a safe working environment and identify potential hazards and risks.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers to ensure that job specifications are accurately conveyed and understood.
  • Assist with the preparation of equipment for hire, including the organization of ancillaries and accessories.
  • Carry out small deliveries and collections to or from customer sites, suppliers, or within our branch network.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to achieve business objectives and support the branch in meeting customer expectations.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar environment, preferably with supervisory experience.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a can-do attitude.
  • Experience working in a team environment, with the ability to work independently when required.
  • Forklift license is desirable but not essential.
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic are essential for this role.
  • Computer literacy and basic IT skills.
  • Physical fitness, due to the nature of the work.
  • Full UK driving license.
