Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Portsmouth. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems and products.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design and develop mechanical systems and products using CAD software such as SolidWorks and Inventor.
  2. Liaise with manufacturing providers to ensure timely and cost-effective production.
  3. Be involved in the final assembly of products and ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
  4. Create technical documentation and project reports to support design and development activities.
  5. Update 3D models and drawings to reflect design changes and improvements.
  6. Input parts into the MRP system and create BOMs to support production planning.
  7. Check drawings for sign off and ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
Requirements:
  1. Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  2. At least 2 years' experience in a similar Design / Mechanical Engineering position in a manufacturing environment.
  3. Experienced working with welded products and fabricated parts.
  4. Ideally have experience in Marine or a related industry, Automotive, Oil & Gas, Aerospace, Subsea or similar.
  5. Proficient using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo etc.
  6. Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances.
  7. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  8. Proficient using MS Office.
  9. Excellent organisational skills and time management skills.
  10. Ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team.
