About the Role

The National Physical Laboratory's Manufacturing Metrology Group is seeking a highly skilled scientist to provide scientific leadership and drive impactful research in the field of metrology.

As a Principal Scientist, you will be responsible for evolving the group's strategy to deliver high-quality research and commercial services, working closely with the team to achieve maximum impact in the manufacturing industry.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of the group and contribute to the development of innovative solutions for industry partners.

About You

We are looking for a scientist with a strong background in metrology and a minimum of 5 years of experience in one of the key areas, including CMM, non-contact measurement, image analysis, or XCT.

You should be comfortable working in a multidisciplinary team and have a relevant academic qualification to at least degree level, ideally a Master's or PhD in an engineering or science subject.

The ideal candidate will have experience in scoping and delivering projects within or in collaboration with industrial companies and be able to discuss the impact of their work on these companies.
