Job Title: Community Psychiatry Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry to join our team at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing clinical leadership and expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of older adults with mental health needs. The post holder will be responsible for managing a caseload of patients, including those with complex and challenging presentations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality clinical care to patients, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the improvement of patient outcomes.
  • Provide education and training to other healthcare professionals on mental health issues affecting older adults.

Requirements:

  • Eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register or Specialist Registrar within six months of expected date of receipt of a CCT/CESR(CP).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong clinical leadership and management skills.
  • Knowledge of mental health legislation and policies affecting older adults.
