Research Physician Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Physician to join our Medical - Clinical Pharmacology Department at Simbec-Orion. As a Research Physician, you will play a critical role in the success of our clinical trials, contributing to the development of innovative new drugs for patient populations with serious unmet medical needs.


About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for medically screening healthy volunteers for clinical trials, providing ongoing medical support, and acting as Principal Investigator on assigned studies. You will review ECGs, vital signs, blood results, and adverse events to ensure participant safety, evaluate participant eligibility for inclusion in studies, and monitor adverse events. Additionally, you will prepare safety data for reports and present at safety review meetings, develop and deliver training to medical, clinical, and enrolment services departments, and provide medical cover outside of normal working hours as part of an on-call rota.


Requirements
  • Medical degree with 2 years of clinical experience post-Foundation.
  • Member of a suitable medical defence organisation.
  • Previous experience working in a clinical research environment.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Experience in managing participant safety and medical emergencies.
  • Competent in MS Office Packages.

Desirable Skills
  • Valid Advanced Life Support (ALS) certificate from the Resuscitation Council (UK).
  • Post-graduate qualification in clinical pharmacology.
  • Previous experience in clinical trials, CRO, bio-tech, or pharma.
  • Experience with Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS).
  • Experience in leading cross-functional project/clinical teams.
  • Risk identification/management; decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Competent in using data capturing systems.
