Job Description

This is a permanent job opportunity at Bayman Atkinson Smythe, a charity that specialises in providing supported housing throughout the UK. The Assistant Management Accountant supports the Finance Manager in managing financial data and improving financial processes.

The estimated salary for this position is £33,869 per annum, plus benefits. Benefits include 28 days holiday + Bank Holidays, life insurance, company pension scheme, health benefits and cash plan, hybrid working (where possible), employee assistance programme, long service awards, and free on-site parking.

The role involves overseeing weekly payments, assisting with month-end closures, preparing draft management accounts, performing balance sheet reconciliations, and contributing to process reviews and improvements. Key tasks include reviewing payment runs, managing month-end journal postings, monitoring purchase orders, and maintaining balance sheet reconciliations.

Budgeting and Reporting: Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, VAT returns, and provide financial insights to managers for effective budgeting. Process Improvement: Lead projects to streamline financial systems, ensure accurate recording of service charges, rents, and leases, and monitor value-for-money against budgets.

Audit & Compliance: Prepare reports, support audit processes, and maintain compliance with internal policies and standards. Essential skills include AAT Level 2/3 or QBEE, experience in finance, knowledge of social housing, strong Excel skills, attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as a team.
