About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Family Support Worker to join our SEND Services team at Leicestershire County Council. As a Family Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children, young people, and families with SEND needs to access information, advice, resources, and services that promote resilience and achievement of good outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Work in partnership with families to undertake brief and analytical assessments of needs and agree immediate priorities with the families.
- Form short-term plans of action with clear responsibilities for family members and the worker.
- Provide direct support to children and families with a range of needs, including those with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including professionals from various agencies and services.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
Requirements
- A level three qualification in a relevant subject, such as child development or a related field.
- Proven experience of providing direct support to children and families with a range of needs, including those with SEND.
- Knowledge of what works in parenting and family functioning, including parenting strategies and mental health promotion activities.
- Working knowledge of key areas such as housing, benefits, education, and primary health care.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey important information to a range of audiences.
- A commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
